How do I get a duplicate title in Wisconsin?

If the vehicle was last titled in Wisconsin

1. Download and fill out the Wisconsin Duplicate Title Application
2. Submit the application:
   • In person at the Division of Motor Vehicles
     • Time frame: Same day
     • Cost to obtain: $20 ($5 additional fee for credit cards)
   • By mailing the application to:
   • WI Dept. of Transportation
     P.O. Box 7949
     Madison, WI 53707-7949
     • Time frame: 3-4 weeks
     • Cost to obtain: $20

If the vehicle was last titled outside of Wisconsin

The registered titled owner(s) of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled.
