How do I get a duplicate title in New Jersey?

If the vehicle was last titled in New Jersey

1. Download and fill out the New Jersey Duplicate Title Application
2. Submit the application
   • In person at the Motor Vehicle Commission
     • Time frame: Same day
     • Cost to obtain: $60
   • By mailing the application to:
     • State of New Jersey
       Motor Vehicle Commission
       Special Services
       PO Box 017
       Trenton, NJ 08666-0017
       • Time frame: 6-8 weeks
       • Cost to obtain: $60

If the vehicle was last titled outside of New Jersey

The registered titled owner(s) of the vehicle must apply for a duplicate title through the state in which the vehicle was last titled.
